Great Danes can live shorter or longer life spans depending on the quality care we as the breeder and you as the owner offer them. Great Danes are sensitive creatures who require a special diet designed to provide nutrition to their large fast growing bodies that are yet so delicate. Very few pet food companies understand this and have dedicated lines of pet food that work with the special needs that Great Danes have. We require all of our buyers to feed a total feed program which consist of Holistic or Supper Premium diet, along with the additional supplements of, Nzymes Granules/Treats, 4-in-1 Probotics, MSM and Liquid Level 5,000 joint support. We want nothing more than for our Danes and puppies to live a full healthy life! Once you start this feed program you will soon see why we follow it wholeheartedly.

~ Raw Diet ~
Northwest Naturals
We recommend to all the new Great Dane puppy owners not to feed any raw diet to their puppy until 6 months of age but preferably after maturity. The high fat/protein/calcium content with in the diet can cause bone growth problems, there are breeders/owners that do feed total or partial raw diet to their puppies with out any problems. We however recommend that you wait until the puppy is finished growing. If you decide to feed this and you do notice that your puppies legs and or feet look different, growing high in the rear or developing a roach back (upward curve to the spine) then please discontinue it.
LINDA'S VERY VEGGIE SOUP - Used As A Filler: Use 2 large cans of chicken or beef broth - (low sodium for heart or elderly dogs- or homemade). Add LOTS of veggies - carrots, green beans, wax beans, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and couple cloves of garlic. The idea is to use this as the filler so you want it to be hearty and filling.

Raw fresh Fruits and Vegetable, Raw Marrow/Meat Soup Bone (Make sure the bone is big enough that the dog cant swallow and small enough the dog cant get its jaw stick in the opening "Recommend for ages 6 months and older"), All Natural Pizzle Sticks or Bully Sticks treats... Please be sure its not imitation Bully or Pizzle sticks. Please remember that, added bones, treats and Pizzle sticks add more protein and calories to your growing Danes diet. This will speed up your puppy's growth. Please use caution!

Take yogurt, buttermilk, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, melons, apples, banana, peaches, oranges or tomatoes, celery, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, sweet potato, green beans, zucchini and juice or blend them, once blended you can freeze them for your own cold Pupsicle. Use your imagination!! You can also purchase those already packaged single serving Applesauce packs in all natural or holistically made and freeze them for a tasty treat. Make sure what ever you choose thats is safe foods and all natural. A nice HEALTHY treat without the added calories and or sugar!

Amounts To Feed Great Dane Puppies
GIANTS - This chart is base on the assumption of “dry food only” and that the dog will be crated or less active during the day while the owner is at out. Use this guideline to help prevent accelerated growth or growth problems in puppies. The most sensitive time seen for growth problems are ages ranging from 2.5 months to 1 year of age. Start with the low end amounts (females) and mid-range amounts (males). They should not be at the high amount until they are in the at least 1/2 way through to being another month older.
Example: a 17 week old female Dane should be eating approximately 4 cups a day divided into two meals - maximum 5 cups a day divided. A Dane male at 17 weeks should be eating 5 cups a day divided, maximum 6 cups a day divided.
You must use good judgment by watching your puppy’s growth. If the puppy looks to lean then increase the amount of dry, looks to heavy decrease the amount of dry. A dog with a smooth coat, I want to just barely see the last rib if the dog is standing. That is the perfect weight for growth. If the puppy is too lean, feed 1/2- 1 cup more per day.

Cleaning Pet Ears: Always use diluted – especially in eyes and ears use in a 2% solution.
For a 2% solutions mix = 1 teaspoon Ox-E-Drops in 1 cup of distilled water. Then you can rinse or spray the ear canal with this 2% solution or saturate a cotton ball and wipe the ear canal thoroughly. Afterwards wipe the ear canal dry with a soft tissue or cotton. For more severe ear problems do this 2-3 times daily for the first 4-5 days; then once or twice weekly thereafter to maintain. This wash works very well for weekly cleaning on your pet's ears.
Eyedrops: Apply the diluted 2% solution 2-3 times daily with eye-dropper.
Using Ox-E-Drops at full strength will cause a mild alkaline burn on the skin. If undiluted contact occurs, flush the area thoroughly with water.
TWO PRECAUTIONS:
1.) Do NOT Apply Undiluted to Skin, Eyes or Mucous Membranes! The only exception would be to apply a drop to a cotton swab or Q-tip and use it one (1) drop at a time for warts, bee stings, nail fungus, Insect bites, etc.
2). The Concentrated Solution Will Bleach! Be very careful with respect to clothing and other fabrics. If a spill occurs, flood the area immediately with water and soak up with absorbent material.
SPILLAGE: Flush area with water. If in contact with clothing or other material, saturate with water and blot with absorbent paper as OX-E-Drops has bleaching properties.
SKIN: Flush with water. Concentrate is irritating to skin.
EYES: Flush with water for 10 minutes. See a physician if pain or stinging persists.
ORAL: If swallowed in concentrate form, immediately drink large amounts of water (1 quart to 1/2 gallon). If nausea persists, see a physician.

COLOSTRUM ~ Colostrum is the first "pre-milk" fluid produced in the first few hours from the mammary gland of mammals, and it carries all the antibodies to protect the young when the immune system is new and underdeveloped. Bovine Colostrum is often used due to it’s rich source of antibodies, growth factors and nutrients and may provide passive immunity to the newborn against various infectious microorganisms, particularly those that affect the gastrointestinal tract. Children who were not breast-fed do not receive the natural antibodies from their mother milk, and often have a lifetime of allergy problems. Likewise young puppies/kittens who do not nurse, are often not protected by the antibodies from mother's colostrum.
Research shows Colostrum will regenerate and rejuvenate the immune function, as well as heart muscle. It is highly recommended for pets (humans) with cardiomyopathy and other heart disease or diabetes issues.
DOSAGE: by pet weight

Level 5000 not only supports but also helps repair damage. The amount of Glucosamine in better dog foods is barely a maintenance level dosage, which is why all Great Dane Puppies should be supplemented, however it is beneficial for all breeds, ages and sizes. The large and giant breeds need to be on a joint support product no later than 12 weeks of age.
Puppies should be started on joint supplementation at 12-16 weeks of age and continue throughout their adult life.

1 oz. per day - For the first week, give twice the amount.
Dosage for Dogs: *note - there are 6 teaspoons in an ounce.
