Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sadly we said Good-bye to our Big daddy Apache, he was in so much pain even after we increased his medicine. He was not the same guy that we once knew but would always LOVE. He is in a wonderful place where he can be happy and run free with out any pain. We miss him so much and we will continue to stress the importance of hip screening to all the breeders out there. Apache came from  Careless / Poor breeding and I truly hope that this painful tragedy that we are going through will open the eyes of many breeders out there.

Rest In peace My Big Daddy !!

Apache as a baby, looking so sad and weak  !!!

It seems all the dogs with Hip Dysplasia and or poor health some how find us, thats ok in my opinion. They are loved and well cared for in what little time they are here. Those that have HD are given proper medication to ease their pain and exercised properly to maintain their muscle mass to help support their joints. Sadly this disease can progress much faster on some. Regardless if they are 110 % healthy or not, they will always have a home here with us.

This is why its so important to health test your breeding dogs for at lest Hip Dysplasia through OFA or Pennhip. This is why I health test all my dogs before they are bred. For those of you out there that do not health test your breeding dogs, you truly do not know what a dog goes through with hip dysplasia or poor health unless you, your self experience it with your own dog. Please have compassion on the animals, health test for HD and only breed those that pass !! If a breeder claims that they health test demand to see proof, a passing mark in OFA is Excellent, Normal, Good, Fair, Anything else is HD.

This is a true Email from OFA regarding Breeders and their belief on breeding Hip Dysplasia out of the line !

Since the hip grading is based on a phenotypic evaluation (not actual
genes) breeders probably cannot completely eliminate hip dysplasia from
a line.  However, the proper use of hip grades in making breeding
decision can greatly reduce the prevalence of hip dysplasia in a line.

Thank you for your inquiry.
