From Birth to Home !
We created this page to give our future puppy buyers a little insight on how their new puppy is raised from birth until they go home !
Here at Tribledanes, we take great pride in what we do. We are completely 100% hands on, beginning with the breeding process all the way to placing our precious babies in their new forever homes. We like to keep in close contact with everyone who purchases one our babies, after all, they are now a part of our family. Keep reading and you will learn how we run things around here at Tribledanes. We strive for the best and to make sure of that our Sire and Dams are in excellent health. Our babies are healthy, happy, well loved and and well socialized starting ( before conception ).
How Our Babies Are Raised !
All of our puppies are socialized from day one starting with being handled on a regular basis day and night, we lay them on their backs in the palms of our hands and rock them to sleep or just cradle them in our arms; while in this position we play with their feet, toes, ears, rub their mouth and eyes and even clip their toenails. Starting Just a few days after birth we preform the " Developing High Achievers - Early Neurological Stimulation " every day at the same time until the puppies are 16 days old. We have seen amazing results with-in our puppies while here in our care; the past puppy buyers have even commented on how quickly they learn things like house breaking, basic commands and even tricks, their well behaved and even tempered. However this does not mean that you will not get the occasional Dane that likes to act out and stir up trouble lol. This just means that we do our best to provide buyers with puppies that are well socialized to the best of our abilities, there isn’t a perfect Great Dane or Breeder out there ! All of our dogs/cats and puppies are 100% indoor animals with the occasion of potty breaks and out door play time.
The puppies are whelped in a 3 rd bedroom which has heat/ac and it is attached to our home, our whelping room is not outside like most breeders have. One week before the mother whelps we will set up a bed in the whelping room and sleep in there with the mother until the puppies are fully weaned, this is so that we can assist the mother and or puppies in any way if needed. We start the weaning process and main socialization at 3 weeks of age, at this stage we bring all of the puppies into the living room for socializing, interaction and play time with us along with the cats, adult dogs and yes even their Father. We wean our puppies on a gruel that is made of Eagle Pack dry food ran through a food processor to make a powder and then we add room temp tap water, Nzymes, bac pac, Ox-E drops, MSM and mix it again to make a mush. Note : The additives are only added 1 time a day to the gruel in the ( am ) meal. We do not add milk of any kind and we do not use puppy weaning cereal or rice. By the time the puppies are 4 weeks old they are fully weaned, there are times when we do get 1 or 2 that are just not ready to be fully weaned but they usually come around by 4.5 weeks of age. Once the puppies start the weaning process they get to stay out in the living room with us until bed time ( our bed time that is ) and at that point they go back to the whelping room " 3rd bedroom " until they wake up which is usually around 6 am. While out in the living room this gives them the opportunity to explore their environment, play with each other, play with toys ( not shoes and socks ) and become accustom to all the sounds that your home may have. Around 5 to 6 weeks of age the puppies are feed solid dry Eagle pack, we do mix in Eagle can meat 1 time a day so that they can still get their additives. This also allows the puppies to become accustom to getting both dry and or dry mixed with can, which ever the new owners would like to feed. When the puppies are 4.5 weeks old they start to go outside to explore the grass, dirt, rock etc. We sit outside and allow the puppies free play time a few times during the day. At 6 weeks of age the puppies will start to go outside with the adult dogs to play and interact. Here at Tribledanes we do not have any children but we still make it apoint to get all of the puppies accustom to all the wonderful things we know small children can and will do lol; like pull their ears, tails, lips, hug on them tightly and we even carry the puppies the same way a small children would. By the time the puppies are 8 weeks old they are just about potty trained, however there will still be work for the new owners. The puppies will have to learn new boundaries and which door to go to when they need to go out etc. There will be potty accidents so be prepared !!
This is just a small amount of all the wonderful fun things that goes on in our home. If you have any question please feel free to ask ! If you like to read up on the Developing High Achievers - Early Neurological Stimulation " you can do so by clicking on the link.
